Jonathan 'Jack' Dawson
Jonathan 'Jack' Dawson is not an innocent; nor would he want to be. Born into a long line of shipbuilders, his family supplied ships to both the North and the South during the war. They might have been branded traitors to the U.S.A. if anyone could have proven their disloyalty. Siegfried Lane became a business associate of the Dawsons during the Civil War, and of course came to know Jack as he grew into adulthood. He rather liked him. “Handsome Jack”, as many of the girls called him, was not interested in his Father's shipping business. In fact, he wasn't interested in much of anything that didn't involve girls, parties, and play. Work was decidedly not in his list of things to do. He had money to go around, and his Mother made sure he never wanted for it. She liked to see her boy happy, and so did he. His Father didn't like it, but he was no match for his wife in their home. An arrangement needed to made that was to the taste of both T. Beauregard Dawson and Siegfried Lane. The bait offered would be the hand of Miss Dorian Lane.
